Cough syrup made from winter radish

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 3 large radishes, black (winter radishes)
  • 3 tbsp rock sugar
  • 3 tsp honey

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 6 hours; Total time approx. 6 hours 10 minutes

a home remedy that is also suitable for children.

Cut off the top and bottom of each radish. Then hollow out the radishes using a knife or a sharp spoon. Pierce each radish several times with the knife to the base. Now place the radishes in a sieve and fill them to the top with rock candy. Add 1 teaspoon of honey to each radish. Place the sieve over a suitable container and let it steep. The sugar will now draw the healing juice from the radish. After 6 hours, the first batch of cough syrup can be “harvested.” The radishes will continue to release their juice for a few days. My brother and I used to have this juice in the winter as children, and I still make it today.
