Cuddly Stars and Other Decorative Cookies

- 300 g Flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 100 g Sugar
- 1 Pck. Vanilla sugar
- Saffron at will
- 3 Organic lemon zest
- 1 Egg size M.
- 200 g Cold butter
- Cake decoration (hearts)
- Zuckerschrift a.d. Tube, various colors
- Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, saffron and lemon zest in a bowl. Add the egg and cold butter in pieces and knead with the flour until crumbly. Then quickly knead everything with your hands to a smooth, but still slightly soft dough, shape into a ball, wrap in foil and put in the refrigerator overnight.
- The next day, continue processing the dough in portions. Always wrap the dough you don’t need and put it in the refrigerator, as it will soften again very quickly.
- Roll out the individual portions on a floured surface to a thickness of 5 mm. Flour the surface of the dough a little. Then cut out stars (but also other shapes), whereby the stars should have 5 points if possible, so that you can put one on the side over the decoration heart “to cuddle”. Process one portion after the other and knead the leftover dough again, cool and roll out again until all of the dough is used up.
- Preheat the oven to 180 ° circulating air. Line the tray with baking paper or foil. The cookies can be placed with a small spacing, they do not diverge very much. The baking time is 10 minutes. After baking, slide the paper onto a grid and let it cool there.
- The cuddly stars have little dots on the upper point with chocolate writing as eyes and nose and the other cookies can be decorated according to your mood and creativity.
