Doctor Tells How to Eat Cucumbers Properly

According to the doctor, cucumbers should be eaten exclusively with the skin on. American doctor Lucia Garci says that many people eat cucumbers incorrectly. Although cucumbers contain 95% water, the remaining five percent is very useful fiber, rich in vitamins and minerals.

“You don’t need to peel a cucumber to eat it, just rinse it several times with clean water. The peel of cucumbers is edible, and eating cucumbers with the peel provides the most nutrients,” says the doctor.

The nutritious part of the cucumber is in the peel

Cucumber peel has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying effects. The doctor notes that cucumbers are rich in vitamin K, which is very important for the body. 80% of the vitamin is concentrated in the peel of the vegetable.

Cucumber peel contains a large amount of insoluble dietary fiber, which helps cleanse the digestive tract, stimulates gastrointestinal motility and reduces the time food stays in the intestines.

Cucumbers contain:

  • Vitamin A, C, B,
  • Iron,
  • Potassium,
  • Phosphorus,
  • Copper,
  • Magnesium.

Who should definitely eat cucumbers with the peel

The vegetable is recommended for people prone to obesity and diabetes. People with skin diseases. With regular consumption of the vegetable, rashes, redness, dryness, and peeling disappear. The skin is saturated with moisture, and becomes elastic and velvety.
