Drying Chives – You Need to Know That

Drying or freezing chives – which is better?

  • Chives are one of those herbs you shouldn’t dry. The aroma is largely lost and the structure is destroyed. Therefore, it is better to freeze your chives.
  • If you still want to dry your herbs, simply cut the chives to the desired size and place them on a tray in the sun. Alternatively, you can also use a dehydrator. In both cases, the moisture is lost relatively quickly.
  • Then store the herbs in an airtight container or jar. Before you use the dried chives again, you should soak them in a little water. In this way, the aroma of the chives spreads a little again.
