  • 15 g ginger root, fresh
  • 18 cloves
  • 1 kg sugar per liter of strained liquid

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

good for preventing colds

Place 4.5 liters of elderberries, without the green parts (just the berries), along with 15 g of fresh peeled ginger root and 18 cloves in a saucepan and add enough water to prevent burning. Simmer for an hour and then strain. For every liter of liquid used, add 1 kg of sugar. Stir continuously until the sugar has melted. Then pour into clean bottles and seal tightly. Drink a teaspoon of this syrup dissolved in warm water every day during the winter months! If this method is too time-consuming for you, you can also do it this way: First, juice the berries, then bring the juice to a boil with the spices and sugar, remove the spices, and bottle.
