Ennstaler Muas

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • 250 ml water, hot
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • some oil or lard for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

vegetarian, simple

Mix the flour with a pinch of salt and “burn it off” with hot water. Slowly fry the resulting lump in hot fat in a pan (preferably cast iron or coated), breaking it into small crumbs (muasen). When the crumbs are crispy, remove them from the pan and serve with applesauce, elderberry compote, or other compotes. Note: This dish has a correspondingly high calorie content and is a very old-fashioned lumberjack dish, but it’s incredibly delicious.
