American recipe

For the batter, cream the butter and sugar in a bowl until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in the chocolate syrup and vanilla paste (or extract or vanilla sugar), then gradually stir in the flour. Add the chocolate chips and walnuts. Pour into a greased brownie pan (approx. 33 x 22 cm) and bake in the center of the oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 35 minutes. Let cool. For the frosting, melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave or in a double boiler and let cool slightly. Stir in the sour cream and powdered sugar and spread the frosting over the cooled brownie batter. Let set slightly in the refrigerator and then cut into pieces. Note: The brownies will be beautifully moist and very sweet thanks to the frosting. If you prefer a less sweet taste, omit the frosting, use only half, or simply use a dark cake glaze instead.
