Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 oranges
  • 200 ml water
  • 200 g sugar
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • ½ g saffron powder
  • 4 cloves

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 12 hours 40 minutes

ideal with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

Peel the oranges with a sharp knife and slice or segment them. Bring the water and sugar to a boil. Once the sugar has dissolved, add the spices and simmer for about 5 minutes. Let the syrup cool slightly (it shouldn’t boil, but it should be quite warm) and then pour it over the oranges. Let it rest for at least an hour, or overnight if you like. Serve with lightly whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Note: I got this recipe from a Swedish colleague and loved it!
