Fruity barbecue sauce

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 can tomatoes, pureed
  • 100 ml orange juice
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 6 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tbsp liquid smoke (hickory smoke)
  • 3 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • e.g. whiskey

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Dice the onion and sauté in the butter. Add the passata and simmer. Then add the juice of one orange (approx. 100 ml), sugar, chili flakes, white wine vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and hickory smoke liquid, and reduce until thickened. Purée if desired and season with a little whiskey.
