Fruity waffle casserole

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 250 g waffles
  • 250 g fruit, e.g. sour cherries, plums, damsons or apricots
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 250 ml milk
  • 50 ml cream
  • 2 bags of vanilla sugar
  • ½ sachet of cream pudding powder
  • some butter flakes

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Divide the waffles and layer them in a greased baking dish. Arrange the chopped fruit between them. Whisk the eggs with sugar, milk, cream, vanilla sugar, and pudding mix well and pour over the waffles. Sprinkle with butter flakes. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 35-45 minutes on the middle rack, until the waffles are crispy. Note: I used homemade waffles and cut each one into five small hearts. You can, of course, also use store-bought waffles, which are usually rectangular. Thin, filled waffles are not suitable.
