Furnace Slip

The perfect furnace slip recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 300 g Old bread / yeast plait
  • 200 g Milk 3.8%
  • 2 Pc. Eggs
  • 150 g Sugar
  • 1 Handful Sultanas
  • 1 tbsp Almond sticks
  • 2 Pc. Apples
  • Flakes of butter
  • Cinnamon
  1. Cut the bread into 1 cm cubes. Peel and quarter the apples. Cut out the core casing. Mix the eggs with the milk. Grease a baking dish. Scatter the sultanas and half of the sugar and cinnamon on the bottom. Layer the bread cubes alternately with apple pieces. Scatter the rest of the sugar / cinnamon on top. Pour the milk / egg mixture on top. Let it soak in briefly. Spread the butter flakes on top and put the almond sticks on top.
  2. Bake in the oven at 180 ° C / fan oven or 200 ° C top / bottom heat for 1 hour. Serve with a vanilla sauce. The Swabian classic would be to eat as a main course after a substantial soup.
