Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 6 cloves garlic, fresh
  • 4 pinches of salt
  • 4 slices of whole-grain toast
  • 8 slices of butter
  • 8 slice(s) Gouda, medium-aged or young

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Preheat the oven to 180°C fan/convection oven. Alternatively, use top and bottom heat. Toast the toast as desired. Peel the garlic and slice it into small pieces. Alternatively, chop it. Fresh garlic is not as spicy. Spread the finished toast with butter and sprinkle with salt. Place the garlic on the toast and top with the cheese. Place the toast in the oven for about 10 minutes, until the cheese is slightly melted. Wait a moment before serving, as the cheese will be very hot. For a more intense flavor, use more garlic and slightly thicker slices of Gouda.
