The perfect grandma’s hearty white cabbage stew recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 0,5 piece Freshly chopped white cabbage
- 300 g Diced Kassel comb
- 200 g Diced meat sausage
- 3 piece Freshly cut spring onions
- 200 g Finely diced potatoes
- 0,75 liter Vegetable broth see my KB
- 1 tsp Caraway seeds
- 1 tsp Marjoram
- 1 pinch Sugar
- 1 pinch Sea salt from the mill
- 1 pinch Black pepper from the mill
- 1 pinch Freshly grated ginger
- 1 some Rapeseed oil
- 1 some Clarified butter
- This is a recipe from grandma’s (almost illegible) cookbook. I changed it slightly to our taste today. That means, actually only the ginger and I had (instead of a tablespoon only 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds in it.
- Lightly fry the smoked pork in the oil. Then sweat the cabbage and deglaze with broth. Season with pepper, salt and marjoram and add the caraway seeds. If you prefer to grind it, then this one.
- Now add the leek and potatoes and simmer until the potatoes are done.
- In between, fry the meat sausage cubes in clarified butter until crispy.
- The fried meat sausage is now also in the pot. Stir everything well. Let it steep for a few minutes and serve on preheated plates.
