Green beans as a side dish

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 300 g beans, green
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp savory
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • some pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

delicious with pan-fried dishes and mashed potatoes

Break the green beans, i.e. remove the ends (break them off) and, if necessary, break the beans in half again in the middle. Rinse the beans thoroughly under running water in a sieve and then add them to a pot with water, half a teaspoon of salt, and the savory. Cook the beans until tender, which takes about 15 minutes. In the meantime, peel the garlic and chop it into very small pieces (do not press it!). When the beans are cooked, pour them into a sieve to drain. Heat olive oil in a pan. A pan in which meat or sausage has already been cooked is ideal for this, as the residual meat flavor will still be in the pan. Once the oil is hot, add the beans to the pan. Add the finely chopped garlic, season with salt and pepper, and toss briefly over high heat. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Remove from the pan after a very short time (about 1 minute) to serve. This goes well with mashed potatoes and bratwurst, schnitzel, or other pan-fried dishes.
