Ham, pea and cream sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • ½ vegetable onion(s) or 1 mild onion
  • 3 medium-sized garlic cloves
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 150 g peas, frozen
  • 1 cup of sour cream, 200 ml each
  • 1 cup of whipped cream, 200 ml each
  • 1 tbsp, heaped sugar, brown
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg, freshly grated
  • salt and pepper
  • some oil or butter for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

goes well with pasta or with gnocchi and cheese

Finely dice the onion and sauté in oil or butter. Glaze the onion with the brown sugar. Add the frozen peas and a cup of water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat. Crush the garlic and add it. Cut the ham into pieces and add it as well. Simmer everything gently for about 5 minutes. Season the ingredients with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in the sour cream, add the heavy cream, and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat again, let the sauce simmer for another five minutes, and season again to taste.
