Hearty Strudel ~ Other

The perfect hearty strudel ~ other recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 packet Frozen puff pastry
  • 750 g Baby spinach
  • 500 g Cooked ham strips
  • 75 g Grated cheese
  • 2 tbsp Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 1 Pc. Egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper from the grinder
  • Chilli flakes
  • Butter
  • Paprika powder
  1. I took frozen puff pastry here because I am still unable to use both of my hands as is normally done. I let this puff pastry thaw and then carefully rolled it out. Put a clean cloth over it so that it doesn’t dry out in the meantime while I’m preparing everything else.
  2. Before I turn to the other things, I set the oven to 180 degrees and let it preheat. Let’s go … Bring a pot with water & a pinch of salt to the boil, blang the baby spinach in it, quenched in cold water and then laid out on a toch to drain.
  3. Heat a pan with a little butter, as the cooked strips of ham, sprinkled with paprika, pepper and salt, are seared. A little sweet chilli sauce for that special pep & left a little moment on the fire.
  4. Remove the dough from the cloth, spread the baby spinach on top, the strips of ham on top and the grated cheese on top. I brushed the edges with the cracked egg before carefully rolling up the puff pastry. Press the painted edges and cut the surface with a sharp knife. This means that there is less risk that it will tear due to the pressure of the heat.
  5. Coated with the rest of the egg yolk mix, it was placed in the oven and left to bake until it browned pleasantly. That means about 20 minutes, upper and lower heat, can be a little more or less. depends on the oven and the degree of browning.
  6. The strudel can be served with a white sauce, but I didn’t need it because it was juicy enough. In a sweet variant, the boundaries between the dough and the content are easier to see, but since it is not a cream filling, it looks a bit wilder, but this does not affect the savory taste.
  7. Bon appetit my dear ones and just give it a try. your tine
