Herb waffles with cooked ham

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • ½ bunch parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 onion(s), finely chopped
  • 200 g butter, soft
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 300 g flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 125 ml water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 1 pinch of marjoram
  • 125 g ham, cooked, finely diced
  • 1 tbsp mixed herbs (8-herb, frozen)
  • 4 egg whites
  • 200 g cheese (Gouda), grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

for those who prefer something savory

Add all the other ingredients, except for the egg whites and Gouda, to a bowl in the order listed, stirring continuously until a smooth batter forms. Then beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold in. Bake in batches in a preheated waffle iron at medium temperature for about 4 minutes. Serve immediately or keep warm in a preheated oven at 150°C until all the batter is baked. This quantity makes about 10 waffles. Sprinkle each waffle with grated Gouda just before serving.
