Hibiscus Sticks

The perfect hibiscus sticks recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 150 g White couverture
  • 200 g Flour
  • 150 g Cold butter
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 50 g Chopped pistachio nuts
  • Dried hibiscus flowers
  1. Finely grate 50 grams of the couverture. Knead with the flour, butter, sugar and the egg yolk to make a shortcrust pastry. Wrapped in foil, cool in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Cover the tray with baking paper and the dough approx. 1 cm. roll out thick. Bake lightly for about 15 minutes. Still warm in 2×7 cm. cut long sticks.
  3. Melt the remaining couverture in a small freezer bag in a water bath. Cut off a small corner from it and cover the dough sticks with it. Sprinkle immediately with pistachios and hibiscus flowers.
  4. Hibiscus flowers can usually be found in any pharmacy or herbalist. 20 grams cost 71 cents.
