Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 80 g butter
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 100 ml whole milk
  • 150 ml water, lukewarm
  • 90 ml honey, liquid
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 500 g wheat flour type 550
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 55 minutes

Melt the butter over low heat and let cool slightly. Warm the milk to lukewarm and mix the yeast with the milk, 150 ml lukewarm water, 70 g honey and the salt. Knead the yeast-milk mixture with the melted butter and flour until you have a smooth dough. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for at least 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) or 180°C (fan oven). Knead the dough again, divide it into 3 pieces and shape each into a roll about 50 cm long. Mix the egg yolk with the remaining honey and brush the dough rolls with it. Now braid the rolls into a plait. Place the plait on a baking tray lined with baking paper, sprinkle with sugar and bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
