How Does Drinking Green Tea Affect Blood Vessels – Scientists Answer

Western researchers have once again reminded people that heart and vascular disease is the most common cause of death across the globe.

Chinese scientists conducted a study and proved the positive effect of green tea on the cardiovascular system.

Since heart and vascular disease is the most common cause of death in the world, tea has been called a life-prolonging drink. More than 100 thousand people took part in the study in China. One of the control groups consumed green tea at least three times a day, and the other did not drink the drink at all. The experiment lasted seven years, during which the subjects were constantly checked by doctors.

The results of regular consumption of green tea were noticeable – the risk of death in the tea-drinking group decreased by 15%, and the risk of having a heart attack or stroke decreased even more. The reduction in the risk of death was attributed to the prolongation of the development of cardiovascular disease due to the action of green tea components.

Such findings do not hold true if black tea is consumed, as it does not retain its antioxidant properties. To achieve the greatest cardioprotective effect, green tea should be drunk regularly.
