Hummels BBQ sauce

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • ½ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup onion(s) (finely chopped)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups tomato ketchup
  • 1 cup of cola
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 2 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 2 lemon(s), the juice
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp flavoring (liquid smoke flavoring)
  • ½ cup whiskey
  • 1 shot of balsamic vinegar (darker)
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Sunflower oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Combine the Worcestershire sauce with the chopped onions in a saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer with the brown sugar. Add the remaining ingredients (except the smoke flavoring) and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring constantly. Purée the sauce with an immersion blender. Finally, add the smoke flavoring to taste. If the sauce becomes too thick, stir in a little oil. Makes approximately 500ml – 750ml of sauce. The sauce will keep for a few weeks in the refrigerator.
