Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 ½ kg chicken thighs or drumsticks
- 1 tbsp cumin, ground
- 1 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
- 1 tbsp turmeric
- 1 ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 3 garlic cloves, squeezed
- 6 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 tbsp oil
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 15 minutes
Mix the spices and lemon juice well to form a paste. Wash and dry the chicken thighs, then rub the paste all over them and let stand in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours. TIP: Wear disposable gloves when rubbing in the paste, otherwise your hands will turn yellow from the turmeric! Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Brush the chicken thighs with oil, reserving the paste. Roast for 25 minutes, turn over, and leave in the oven for another 25 minutes. Brush with the remaining paste occasionally. Mix the resulting sauce with the remaining paste and pour over the chicken thighs taken out of the oven. Serve with rice. These chicken thighs are always a welcome addition to any celebrations.
