Irish apple pie

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g apples
  • 5 tbsp Irish whiskey
  • 180 g butter
  • 125 g brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 180 g flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • Powdered sugar for sprinkling
  • Fat and flour for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Peel the apples, quarter them, and slice them thinly. Drizzle with the whiskey and let them sit for half an hour. Meanwhile, cream the butter with the sugar and eggs until fluffy. Stir in the flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir the apples into the batter. Grease and flour a pie dish (or springform pan) and pour the batter into it. Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (top/bottom heat) for 45 minutes. If the cake is already quite brown halfway through baking, cover it with aluminum foil. Let it cool and dust with powdered sugar. It also tastes great with pears. My family is addicted to it. It’s a very rustic and nostalgic cake. Especially when baked in such a beautiful pie dish, it looks like something from grandma’s time.
