Italian tomato sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 sprig(s) of thyme
  • 1 large can of tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Quick to prepare

Puree the canned tomatoes with a hand blender. Crush the garlic and then fry it in the olive oil until browned (do not overcook). Add the pureed tomatoes and the thyme sprig and simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove the sprig and thicken the mixture with the tomato paste (if three tablespoons aren’t enough, feel free to add a little more). Finally, season with salt. This sauce goes wonderfully with pasta, but also makes a great base for pizza.
