Kiwi chutney

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 5 kiwis
  • 1 banana(s)
  • 1 small garlic clove(s)
  • 130 g sugar
  • 100 ml balsamic vinegar, white, or white wine vinegar
  • chili flakes
  • Salt
  • curry

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cut the kiwis and banana into small pieces. Crush the garlic, sprinkle with salt, and grind it into a paste with chili flakes. Combine all ingredients except the curry in a saucepan and simmer gently over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, until the consistency is slightly thick. Stir occasionally. Shortly before the end of the cooking time, add the curry and a pinch of salt and stir again. While still hot, pour into hot, washed jars, screw on the lid, and cover with a towel. If you prefer a fruitier flavor, add one more kiwi. These ingredients make about 2-3 smaller jars. I use regular jars with screw lids (Twistoff jars) for preserving, which I save from jams or mustard, for example, and wash in the dishwasher. The slower the jars cool down, the longer the chutney will keep.
