Kohlrabi in sauce with meatballs

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg kohlrabi
  • 250 ml water
  • Salt
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 500 ml milk
  • 250 ml vegetable stock
  • 500 g minced meat
  • 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg(s)
  • salt and pepper
  • curry

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Peel the kohlrabi, cut into sticks or slices, then bring to a boil in a pot with water and salt, then simmer for about 15 minutes. In the meantime, prepare the meatballs. Combine the minced meat with the other ingredients and form into small balls. Pour the cooked vegetables through a sieve, reserving the vegetable stock. Heat the butter in a pot, add the flour, stir in the milk and vegetable stock, and bring to a boil. Add the kohlrabi to the sauce, place the meatballs on top, cover the pot, and gently simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Boiled potatoes and a fresh salad are delicious as a side dish.
