fake cabbage rolls, my grandmother’s recipe, Swabian, quick, easy, inexpensive

Finely chop the onions and fry them with the minced meat in a little oil in a 28 cm frying pan. Meanwhile, thinly grate the cabbage, add it to the minced meat, and fry briefly over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent it from burning. If there is no more oil in the pan, add a little more to make the rice fluffier. Add the rice and deglaze with water so that the rice is just covered. Season generously with salt and pepper, add the bay leaves, and stir. I flatten the mixture a little so that the rice is well covered with water. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes at a low heat. We like it best with sour cream.
