Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 15 green walnuts (picked on June 24th – St. John’s Day)
  • 200 g rock sugar, brown
  • 1 vanilla pod(s)
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 1 mace flower
  • 2 carnations
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 candy (peppermint candy)
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tbsp anise
  • 1 liter of schnapps (korn, fruit brandy or vodka)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Wash the walnuts and quarter them with a sharp knife. Be sure to wear rubber gloves. Then, along with the remaining ingredients, place them in a large preserving jar. Pour in 1 liter of schnapps, vodka, or fruit brandy (I prefer the latter). Let stand in a sunny spot for 6-8 weeks, then strain. Let it ripen in a dark place until winter, sweetening with sugar syrup if desired.
