Make Cocoa Yourself – That’s How it Wworks

Instead of buying ready-made drinking cocoa, you can easily make your own variant of the chocolatey drink yourself. That is why we have put together four fresh and individual recipes for you.

Make cocoa yourself – a vegan variant

For this recipe, you need plant milk of your choice, raw cocoa powder, vanilla extract, 50 grams of vegan chocolate, and a banana. The fruit is used here as a sweetener. Alternatively, you can also use coconut blossom sugar or agave syrup.

  1. Measure out half a liter of plant-based milk and cut up a banana. Now put both ingredients in a blender.
  2. Turn the mixer on to the lowest level and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of baking cocoa and some vanilla extract.
  3. Now add the chopped chocolate – but leave a little bit for garnishing later. Now let everything mix for a good two minutes.
  4. Instead of the banana, you can also add 2 to 3 pitted dates to the blender. If you want your cocoa to be a little creamier, crush up a few cashews or almonds and add them.
  5. Finally, pour the cold cocoa variant into glasses and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the drink.

Lactose-free refreshment with a cocoa note

For this recipe, you use lactose-free cow’s milk. If you would like to use lactose-free but no animal milk, you can use oat milk, for example. Otherwise, you will need brown or regular sugar, about 5 ice cubes, and cocoa powder.

  1. First, crush the ice cubes with the milk in a blender. During this step, make sure that the device does not get too hot.
  2. Now add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and the same amount of sugar and mix everything thoroughly.
  3. If you like, pour the drink into a tall or long drink glass and add a scoop of lactose-free chocolate or vanilla ice cream and decorate the rim with a strawberry or apple slice.

Hot turmeric chocolate

Turmeric strengthens the immune system and promotes digestion. Apart from this special ingredient, you need 500 ml of whole milk, 1 to 2 tablespoons of baking cocoa, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 50 grams of sugar or 1 teaspoon of honey, and a sachet of vanilla sugar. Feel free to use whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles for garnish.

  1. Heat the milk in a saucepan along with 1 tsp turmeric, cocoa, and all other ingredients.
  2. After boiling, let the milk simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly with a whisk. This not only makes the milk frothy, but you also prevent the mixture from burning.
  3. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Put a little icing on top of the drink and sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles.
