You can prepare about 20 muesli bars with these ingredients:

  • 1 tart apple
  • 1 not too ripe pear
  • 60 grams of butter
  • 300 g coarse oat flakes
  • 2 eggs (size M)
  • 60 grams of cranberries
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar baking powder
  • 60 grams of hazelnuts
  • 2 tbsp sesame
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup, agave syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions: Make your own muesli bars

Wash the apple and pear, remove the core and cut into quarters. Grate finely on a kitchen grater or in a food processor. Squeeze out, catching the juice.
Melt butter. Mix well with the oats, eggs, cranberries and the fruit in a bowl.
Add baking powder. Roast the hazelnuts and sesame in the pan without fat. Chop the nuts and fold into the mixture with the sesame seeds.
Cut very fine strips from the lemon with a zest cutter or sharp knife. Knead under the dough.
Preheat the oven to top/bottom heat: 200 °C, circulating air: 175 °C.
Add the sweetener, cinnamon and salt to the dough and knead everything thoroughly so that a smooth dough is formed. If it is too dry, knead in some more of the fruit juice that you have collected.
Spread the batter over about two-thirds of a greased baking sheet and press down firmly.
Bake in the oven for about ten minutes. Take out, carefully cut into approx. 20 rectangles, distribute them over the whole tray. Bake again for about ten minutes.
Take out the bars and let them cool down.

Make your own muesli bars: tips for vegans

Of course, the bars can also be made vegan. Instead of the two eggs specified in the recipe, two tablespoons of crushed or ground flaxseed are mixed with six tablespoons of hot water – then leave to swell briefly.

Replace the butter with the same amount of margarine or with 50 milliliters of cold-pressed rapeseed oil. Mix the vegan alternatives with the flakes and other ingredients as described.
