Marzipan is one of the sweets that you can make yourself relatively easily. And the work is worth it, because not only do you create the treatment exactly to your taste, but the food is also significantly cheaper.

Marzipan – this is how you quickly make it yourself

Originally, the marzipan that came to us from the Arab world hundreds of years ago was reserved for the nobility. Food has also already had a career as a remedy. Among other things, it should have a potency-enhancing and strengthening effect. Today, marzipan is mainly used in confectionery such as marzipan cakes.

  • To make marzipan yourself, you need one thing above all: almonds. Rose water is usually added, but you can also replace it with orange juice, Cointreau, or bitter almond oil.
  • You also need a sweetener for your homemade marzipan. Household sugar is just as suitable for sweetening as raw cane sugar, honey, or powdered sugar. You already have all the ingredients for your marzipan.
  • Depending on your taste and intended use, refine your marzipan with cinnamon, vanilla, or grated lemon zest.
  • For 100 grams of almonds, take about two tablespoons of honey and one tablespoon of rose water.
  • First, remove the skin from the tonsils. To do this, place them in hot water for some time. The water bath makes the skin of the coat very soft and it can then be easily removed.
  • Then put the almonds in a food processor and chop them into a very fine mass. Then the rose water, honey, and other ingredients are added.
  • You can then process the raw mass according to your taste, for example, to make marzipan potatoes or a delicious marzipan cake.
  • Tip: The marzipan is easier to work with if you put it in the fridge for one to two hours.
