Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg potatoes
- ¼ liter milk, hot, approx.
- butter
- Salt
- nutmeg
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Wash and peel the potatoes, cut them into small pieces, and rinse them again. Then add them to boiling salted water and cook for about 20 minutes. When the potatoes are tender, drain them through a sieve. Bring the milk to a boil. Meanwhile, mash the potatoes, then immediately toss them with the boiling milk (the amount needed depends on the potato variety) and the knob of butter. Season with salt and, if desired, nutmeg, and serve immediately. Note: Mashed potatoes can also be served with roasted onion rings.
