Ingredients

  • 1 kg Potatoes
  • 1 half Onion in strips
  • 1 half Garlic clove chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 50 g Butter
  • 6 Diced onions
  • 1 half a teaspoon Seasoned pepper
  • 250 ml Boiling milk
  • 250 ml Freshly grated nutmeg
  • 250 ml Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Wash, peel and roughly chop the potatoes with a few onion strips and the garlic in a saucepan, cover with salted water and cook for about 20 minutes. Then drain, allow to evaporate a little and chop with the potato masher.
  • While the potatoes are cooking, fry the onion cubes in a pan with good butter over medium heat for about 15 minutes, turning several times, season with pepper and fold them into the freshly mashed potatoes while still hot with the boiling hot milk . So much of the milk until the consistency of the puree is right. Season with salt and freshly grated nutmeg and serve.
  • I served a quick knuckle of pork with sauerkraut from the Römertopf. The puree was so good that you could have enjoyed it without meat ... at least that was what my husband said, who is also an old connoisseur.
