Matcha: 4 Delicious Recipes

Matcha is a Japanese green tea that is used as a ground powder in many recipes. It is mainly used in desserts and sweet dishes, but can also be used as a flavor carrier and color in savory dishes.

Unusual recipe idea: chocolate with matcha

To spice up your chocolate, try our matcha version. So it not only looks very special but also tastes good and is very suitable as a gift. You will need these ingredients:

  • 225g dark chocolate, 115g white chocolate, 1 teaspoon matcha, grated coconut, coarse sea salt, and fresh or dried fruit
  • Melt the dark chocolate and white chocolate separately in a water bath.
  • Then mix the matcha with the melted white chocolate.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper and then spread the dark chocolate on it.
  • Drizzle the matcha chocolate mixture onto the dark chocolate and use a fork to create a marbled pattern.
  • Finally, spread coconut flakes, sea salt, and fruit on the chocolate and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours.

Almost a classic: Matcha Latte

The Matcha Latte could be the ideal chance for your daily coffee or tea. For a drink you will need:

  • 1 teaspoon of Matcha, 200ml milk (if necessary also soy milk or almond milk), 50ml warm water, and some honey or agave syrup
  • Mix the matcha powder with the water.
  • Warm the milk, for example in a microwave, and then pour both liquids together.
  • You can add honey or agave syrup as a sweetener.

Green Matcha Ice Cream

The best for the summer: A fruity matcha ice cream that refreshes and is also a real eye-catcher. For the ice cream you need:

  • 1 mango, 1 banana, 1/2 teaspoon matcha, 100g lamb’s lettuce, 100g baby spinach leaves, 2 fresh mint leaves, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 250ml coconut milk, and 100ml water
  • Cut the fruit into smaller pieces.
  • Wash the lettuce and spinach and place them in a blender along with the fruit.
  • Add all the other ingredients as well and mix well.
  • Then fill your ice cream molds and put the ice cream in the freezer for a few hours.

Matcha Pea Soup

A soup is very tasty, especially in winter. Try our Matcha Pea Soup. For 4 servings you will need the:

  • 2 shallots, 1 clove of garlic, 800g frozen peas, 5 tablespoons olive oil, 4 tablespoons white wine, 1/2l fish stock, 100g butter, 100ml cream, and 2 tablespoons matcha
  • Additional seasoning: 1 sprig of thyme, sea salt, pepper, 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • You can also add 12 shrimp if you like.
  • Finely dice the shallots and garlic and sauté them together with the thyme and 3 tablespoons olive oil.
    Add the peas and season.
  • Deglaze everything with the white wine and then add the fish stock.
  • Let the peas cook in the liquid for about 10 minutes and then puree everything well. Pass everything through a sieve.
  • Stir the cream together with the matcha powder until fluffy and then stir the mixture into the soup.
  • Fry the shrimp in olive oil and season well. Then distribute them on the plates and pour the soup over them. You can also use mint leaves to garnish the end.
