simple, quick, filling
Finely chop the onion. Heat a little oil in a pan. Brown the chopped onion in a pan. Wrap the ham around the Maultaschen. Mix 500 ml of water with a tablespoon of gravy in a pot and bring to a boil. Remove the fried onions from the pan and add the wrapped Maultaschen to the hot pan with oil. Fry on both sides until browned to your liking. Season with salt and pepper. Arrange the wrapped Maultaschen on plates (or use just three, depending on the size of the plate; it’s a feast for the eyes) and pour over the gravy. Sprinkle with onions and place the four pickled gherkins on top of the Maultaschen, garnishing each with a drop of mustard. A great accompaniment: a green salad and a dry Riesling.
