Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 10 minutes
also delicious as a shake, for about 1 liter of ice cream
Roughly remove the seeds from the melons with a spoon, then scoop out the insides and use a hand blender to puree. Halve the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with the edge of a knife. Add the milk, cream, vanilla seeds, and any flavoring, blend again, then pour into one or more molds and let it set in the freezer or ice cream maker. It tastes great even before freezing, so it’s also great as a shake; just beat in some air and add crushed ice, if you like. I can also imagine it adding strawberries, rhubarb, mango, or raspberries, either as ice cream or a shake.
