Millet cheese patties

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 150 g millet
  • 700 ml water
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 200 g cheese, grated (e.g. Tilsiter, Emmentaler or Bergkäse)
  • 1 tsp, heaped salt
  • some oil or ghee for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Simmer the millet gently in water for about 25 minutes, then let it cool and steep for about 30 minutes. It can also be cooked the night before. Then add the breadcrumbs, egg, cheese, and salt and knead into a dough. Form patties and fry in a pan with a little oil or ghee until lightly browned on both sides. Serve with apple compote or salad. Tastes delicious! A popular and very healthy children’s meal.
