Mojito

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • ½ lime(s), cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 sprig(s) peppermint
  • 1 tbsp cane sugar, light
  • 6 cl white rum
  • 6 ice cubes
  • 3 dl mineral water

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 5 minutes

The warm season tempts us to enjoy the sunset in the evening on the terrace or balcony, and this goes wonderfully with a “sundowner,” preferably a mojito. Refreshing and stimulating, just like the Cuban version. There are countless variations, but only one original: Place 1 heaped tablespoon of light cane sugar (it shouldn’t color; otherwise, use regular granulated sugar) along with the lime segments (not lemons!) and a small sprig of peppermint (the kind with the light green, curly leaves) in a sturdy glass and mash well with a muddler. Of course, you can also pluck a handful of leaves instead of the sprig and add them to the glass. Add 4-6 cl of white rum and mix until the sugar has dissolved. Be careful with the dosage: You’ll barely taste the alcohol, but you’ll definitely notice the effect! Add 3-4 ice cubes (not crushed ice) to the glass and stir again. Top up with carbonated mineral water, stir briefly so that the carbonation does not evaporate and serve with or without a straw.
