Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 lemon(s), untreated
  • 5 juniper berries
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 1 sprig of peppermint
  • 3 sage leaves
  • 1 stalk of basil
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 sprigs rosemary
  • 1 tsp chamomile flowers
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 pinch(s) of saffron
  • 3 tbsp rock sugar, brown
  • 0.7 liter schnapps, double grain, 38%

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Finely grate the lemon zest and juice the lemon. Crush the juniper berries and cinnamon stick with a broad knife. Combine all the remaining ingredients, lemon juice, lemon zest, juniper, and cinnamon, in a tightly sealed glass jar. Pour over the double grain schnapps. Let this herbal mixture steep in a dark place for about 10 days, shaking occasionally. Then filter the mixture through cheesecloth and bottle it in glass bottles. Variation: Combine all the ingredients (except the grain schnapps) in a saucepan with about 200 ml of water and bring to a boil. Simmer the brew for about 5 minutes. Let the mixture cool overnight. The next day, filter the herbal brew and mix it with the grain schnapps. Done!
