Mr. Tom made by himself

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 450 g sugar
  • 240 ml water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 500 g peanuts, salted
  • ½ tsp baking soda

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 12 hours 35 minutes

Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Simmer for about half an hour, stirring occasionally (not with plastic spoons or anything similar!). When the mixture is golden yellow and nice and thick, remove from the heat and quickly stir in the butter, baking soda, and peanuts. Stir until the mixture is smooth. Then slowly and very carefully (risk of burning!) pour the mixture into a baking dish lined with parchment paper and smooth it down. Let it cool, then break or cut into pieces.
