  • 1 pack Dark chocolate couverture
  • 1 pack Marzipan
  • Red food coloring, powdeRed sugar, nutella
  • 250 g Margarine
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 5 Eggs
  • 125 g Food starch
  • 125 g Flour
  • 75 g According to hazelnuts
  • Cinnamon, apricot syrup

butter cream

  • 1 pack Vanilla pudding
  • Butter, 2 tbsp strawberry jam
  1. My daughter celebrated her 11th birthday at the weekend and asked for this cake (we saw it at a wedding). Now I looked for recipes, but they were always with jelly and quark and a lot of cream, but everything was too powerful for me. That’s why I chose a Baumkuchen, and here’s the recipe:
  2. Mix the margarine with sugar until frothy. Gradually add the eggs. Beat the cream until it is nice and light and frothy. Mix the cornstarch, flour, hazelnuts and cinnamon and stir into the cream. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees and then switch to the grill. Grease the springform pan. Spread about 2 tablespoons of batter on the springform pan and bake for about 3 minutes, take out and spread about 2 tablespoons of batter on top again. Keep doing this until all of the batter is used up. After cooling, cut the cake once and, if you like, soak it with apricot syrup. In the cool down period I made a pudding for the buttercream. But only made one layer of cream. So half of the cooled pudding (the other half my girls ate) mixed with butter and another 2 tablespoons of strawberry jam. Spread on top of the cake and put the other half back on top. Done part 1
  3. Part 3: Melt the couverture and take off the duplos. Now brush the duplos with chocolate on the edges and below and glue around the cake base. Now you can put the bucket in the fridge so that the chocolate hardens.
  4. Part 4: make marzipan pigs. First, knead the marzipan with some red food coloring and powdered sugar until it is piglet pink. Then shape the pigs as you want. I used a toothpick to help with the eyes, nostrils, etc.
  5. Part 4: When the bucket is firm, spread about 3-4 tablespoons of Nutella (heat up briefly in the micro, then it is easier to spread) on the cake base. Put the pigs in and the mud tub cake is ready. As a variation, you could just make a nut cake and use the Duplos or other chocolate bars.
