Muhallabia – oriental milk cream

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g milk
  • 200 g cream
  • 40 g honey
  • 10 g butter
  • 15 g sugar
  • 25 g cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp rose water or orange blossom water
  • some honey, liquid, as a topping

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

When you need a quick dessert

Take a little milk and mix it with the cornstarch. Bring the remaining milk to a boil with the cream, honey, butter, and sugar. Thicken with the mixed cornstarch, bring back to a boil, and stir in the rose water. Ladle into small bowls. Just before serving, drizzle with the liquid honey. Serve warm or cold. Tip: You can also garnish with pistachios, chopped almonds, and/or cream.
