Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 liters of black beer or dark bock beer
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 6 carnations
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, optional vanilla
  • 80 ml rum
  • ½ lemon(s), squeezed
  • 500 ml cherry juice, orange juice or elderberry juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Chop the cinnamon sticks and star anise with a sharp knife and then place them in a tea infuser along with the cloves and cardamom pods. Pour the beer into a sufficiently large pot and suspend the tea infuser. Heat the beer to approximately 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit) – do not boil. Add the sugar and honey and stir everything together. Turn off the heat and let the beer steep with the spices for about half an hour. Then remove the tea infuser and pour the lemon juice, rum, and cherry juice into the beer. Stir the beer again. If drinking immediately, heat the mulled beer back up to approximately 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). Alternatively, let it cool further and then bottle it.
