Ingredients

  • 75 g Dark couverture or chocolate
  • 175 g Butter
  • 150 g Sugar
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 1 packet Finesse, grated orange peel
  • 1 pinch Cinammon
  • 1 pinch Ground carnations
  • 1 pinch Cardamom
  • 1 tsp Cocoa powder
  • 3 Eggs
  • 150 g Flour
  • 30 g Food starch
  • 3 tsp Baking powder
  • 100 ml Mulled wine

For painting:

  • 100 g Powdered sugar
  • 4 tbsp Mulled wine

Instructions

  • For the dough, roughly chop the chocolate and melt it in a water bath, then let it cool slightly. Stir butter, eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, spices and cocoa powder until foamy until a thickened mass is formed.
  • Mix the flour and baking powder and stir in two portions, alternating with the mulled wine on medium heat. Finally stir in the melted chocolate. Pour the dough into 12 prepared muffin molds and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees (or fan oven 160 degrees) for about 35 minutes.
  • After baking, let the muffins stand in the mold for about 5 minutes, then remove them from the mold and let them cool. For the topping, mix together the icing sugar and mulled wine and brush the muffins with it.
  • As a variant, you can also fold 150 g of finely chopped prunes under the dough.
