Nuremberg bratwurst with apple cream

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 3 apples (sour)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 onions
  • 40 g butter
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • 150 g crème fraîche
  • 2 tbsp Calvados
  • 1 tsp honey

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

For the cream, peel the apples, quarter them, remove the cores, slice them, and drizzle with lemon juice. Peel and finely dice the onions, then sauté them in melted butter until translucent. Add the apples and sauté briefly. Place the apple and onion mixture in a blender and puree. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer the mixture to a bowl, stir in the crème fraîche and Calvados, season with honey, and let the cream cool. Place the grilled sausages on the hot grill and grill for 3-4 minutes on each side. Serve with Bavarian cabbage and bread dumplings.
