quick, easy and super tasty
Roll out the puff pastry and cut out circles with a diameter of approximately 18 cm. You should get about 4 circles from one package of puff pastry. Tip: This works best if you use a small plate or bowl as a template. Spread all but one of the circles generously with Nutella. The thickness is purely a matter of taste; however, since the whole thing will be baked, I wouldn’t apply it more than half a centimeter thick. Stack the circles spread with Nutella on top of each other, with the circle you didn’t spread on top. Now take a glass, preferably a shot glass or something similar, and place it in the center of the cake. This step is very important, otherwise the following steps won’t work. Starting with the glass, cut 16 equal-sized cake slices all around the glass. Take the glass down again. Now take every other cake slice by the edge, turn it clockwise once with your fingertips, and set it back down. Now do the same with the other pieces, only turn them counterclockwise. This creates the beautiful star pattern. Whisk the egg yolk with the cream and gently brush the mixture onto the cake. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180°C fan-assisted oven or 200°C conventional oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar.
