Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 kg onions
  • 1 liter red wine
  • 330 ml vinegar (red wine vinegar)
  • ¼ liter crème de cassis
  • 250 g butter
  • 500 g sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Slice the onions and sauté in butter until lightly translucent, then add the sugar. After 10 minutes, add the red wine and red wine vinegar. Simmer gently for 2 hours with the pan uncovered. Add the crème fraîche and simmer for another 1 1/2 hours, until the juices have almost completely evaporated. While still hot, pour into jars and seal tightly. Delicious hot or cold.
