works great for coughs
Peel the onions and slice them thinly – I slice them with a vegetable slicer. Then I place them in layers in a jug or milk pot with a capacity of about 1/2 liter. I place the slices of about half an onion, divided into rings, into the jug and add a tablespoon of sugar on top, then another layer of onions, another layer of sugar, and so on, until all the onions are used up. I cover the jug with a suitable plate, partly to prevent the onion’s valuable essential oils from evaporating, and partly to prevent everything from smelling of onions. After about 2 hours, the first juice has formed and is ready to be consumed. The mixture keeps for about 2-3 days at room temperature, after which no more juice forms. I give this juice to my daughter and, of course, to us adults as well when she has a cough. It has an expectorant and disinfectant effect on the upper respiratory tract. Dosage: 1 tablespoon 3 times daily.
