Onion soup with Emmental cheese

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g onion(s)
  • 2 apples
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 750 ml chicken broth
  • 250 ml export beer
  • 300 g cheese (Emmental), grated
  • 1 tsp paprika powder, hot
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Peel the onions and slice them into rings. Wash and grate the apples. Melt the butter in a saucepan, fry the onions, add the apples, and pour in the broth and beer. Simmer the soup for about 10 minutes and season with paprika, salt, and pepper. Serve the soup among bowls and sprinkle with Emmental cheese.
