  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil, neutral
  • 150 ml buttermilk
  • 1 ½ tsp orange peel, untreated, grated
  • 200 g flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 ½ tsp, leveled baking powder
  • ½ tsp, leveled baking soda
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 minutes; Total time approx. 19 minutes

for the donut maker, makes about 40 – 50 pieces.

Grease and preheat the donut maker. Beat the eggs and sugar until creamy. Stir in the oil and buttermilk. Combine the orange zest, flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and vanilla sugar and stir in. The batter should fall easily from the spoon; if not, add more buttermilk. Spoon 1 teaspoon of batter into each donut maker cavity and bake for 4-5 minutes (re-grease occasionally, using a brush and butter or oil). This batter makes enough for 40-50 donuts. Once they’re done and cooled, dust them with powdered sugar, or make a glaze from powdered sugar and orange juice and spread it on the donuts.
